Just bought this for a trip to a waterpark. Played with it in our pool to test it out. We had lots of fun with it, only got a few good shots because it is hard to see the LCD screen underwater. Pictures are actually pretty clear. I am actually a trained photographer so I am not used to point and shoot small cameras, but this one is actually pretty fun.
Downside is that it takes regular AA batteries which I am sure will need replacing after only one day of shooting.

I researched many camera models that would suit my purpose for fishing trip photography and settled on the Vivitar 8400 8. 1 MP Underwater Camera. It seems superbly made and I like the way it feels in my hands, the button layout and operation is exceptional. Photos are great and video quality is satisfactory for my purposes with one big exception – there is NO MIC and NO AUDIO!!! I am very disappointed and would like to return the camera. No matter how it looks and feels, it does not meet my needs.

J& #039; they bought this machine of photos in the hopes d& #039; to obtain some great submarine images of my trip to the Bahama& amp; #039; s. After the taking d& #039; a great number of pic& amp; #039; s, j& #039; they began to examine the submarine projectiles d& #039; a day beautful of plunge. On the study, it would say that only l& #039; abot 25% 0f qu& #039; they were worth the protection. The majority was turbid, but it must be predicted. All the projectiles do not leave clearly. Nevertheless, it could never obtain the flash until working calling to the service to the customer. L& #039; machine of photos gave back for the repair or the substitution. I will issue my final ruling after to have seen how this set leaks outside! RS

Bought it, took underwater pictures. I could not see the screen while underwater and did not know if the camera was on or off. Very frustrating! The camera has a delay when snapping the pic, got some smudged images because I was moving while the camera was thinking about taking the pics. Got home from vacation and returned it. I did not experience a leaky camera because I used an o-ring lubricant to properly seal the camera from water. I would suggest the same to anyone who buys this camera. I would think that Vivitar would make a better product than this.
