   Improved signal improves download speed when in strong range and delivers metro like speeds if in the fringes. Works inside office buildings, hotel rooms, trains and taxis and most other structures for significant improvement. Tested thus far with the Novatel

   It is an important fact and isn’t discussed by sales reps and misunderstood by end users that antennas are typically used in rural zones and just for rudimentary coverage.

   Cellular data such as the Pantech and Novatel cards and others use the stronger signal for more bandwidth and your connection takes better advantage of your allocated session versus those around and without.

   It’s measurable, the improvement is 1/3 (32%-34%) improvement and is the difference of executing a 300+MB file transfer in 80 minutes or nearly two whole hours.
   In numbers, the claims of 10 – 15 decibel gain isn’t an exaggeration, in a fairly well covered zone, our bandwidth WITH THE ANTENNA IMPROVED 80-90 decibels versus 50-60 without.

   If you’re a frequent field user and has a backpack full of spare laptop batteries to prove it, you can use the antenna to maintain your status quo and use the card in lower power mode if your bus and card supports power modulation. Honestly, users are loathe to surrender increased speed for yesterdays speed and longer battery so the expectations of battery lifespan are fairly useless.

   The antenna is more of rig and the magnetic base along with aerial and an attenuator are matte / low gloss anodized black about 12 inches in height. The sheathed base inlet holds onto enough cable to stretch from the hood + nearly to the rear of cargo van. Thankfully the cable is malleable and easy to bundle and fasten with the zip tie off a loaf of bread.

   It also works when discreetly tucked into the top of a carryon bag to avoid the awkward stares and hassles one should reasonable expect by standing out with a 12 inch black antenna inside the airport.

   The base magnet isn’t as strong as the 802. 11 WiFi extenders we’re accustomed to using but those other bases have inadvertently damaged our hard drives since they’re designed for hurricane strength wind and this cellular base magnet seems designed for practicality. As as test and thankfully we had some drives to be degauused, we used our other usualWiFi base tenna’s to hit a 3. 5 SATA drive and it was impacted. . . . but this new antenna rested and scrubbed against the entire case even the circuit board wasn’t strong enough to damage a misplaced hard drive and this is important safety feature for road users who can become inundated in a car seat and lapful of components, thumbdrives and magnetic media before they realize they just rested a magnet on their laptops and flushed half of their lifes data.

   The interchangeable tips are an easy swap by adjusting and fastening well machined threads. This listed item came with the CellularAntennaAdapter P/N 359919 and there are others types for different cell phones and different radios outside of CDMA and WWAN data,

   Overall this antenna is upside and consistently improved our signal in roving tests, also the base magnet never seemed to jar from the original spot but so far we’ve used clean services and wiped a bare spot every beginning. Other base magnets are designed to grip through road dirt and bird droppings but those are the kind requiring discipline while handling and a trait most end users lack so the inevitable hard drive damage is likely except for this one.
